Biscuit Chocolate

Here's a simple chocolate recipe with biscuits added... a biscuit chocolate recipe.
Ingredients 
1.Warm Milk                1/2 cup(1/4 + 1/4)
2.Cocoa powder          3 tbsp
3.Condensed milk        1/2 tin(I used Milkmaid)
4.Sugar                       4 tbsp
5.Biscuits(Arrowroot)   11/2 cup(powdered)
6.Butter                       50 gm
7.White Chocolate        for garnishing

 Method
-In a small bowl add 1/4 cup milk and cocoa powder,mix well to form a paste* without any lumps.
-Coarsely powder the biscuits using your hand.
-Now in a nonstick pan combine rest of the milk,cocoa paste*,condensed milk,sugar and butter.Heat this on medium flame with constant stirring.
-When the mixture starts boiling reduce the flame and cook for 5 to 7 minutes(till the mixture becomes a little thick)
-Now add the biscuits and mix for another 4-5 minutes and remove from fire.
-Spread this mixture onto a pan greased with butter.
-Garnish with grated white chocolate.

-Serve when cooled.

Spicy Channa (Chole)/Chick Peas Masala

 Ingredients
1.Chick Peas/Garbanzo Beans/
  Kabuli Channa      1 cup(soak overnight)
  Kashmiri red chilly powder   1/2 tsp
  Turmeric  powder               1/2 tsp
  Salt                  1/2 tsp         
  Water               3 1/2 to 4 cups
2.Onion                         2 medium(sliced)
3.Ginger chopped          1 1/2 tbsp 
4.Garlic chopped            1 tbsp
5.Green chilly                 2 slit                
6.Tomato                       2 medium
 Kashmiri chilli powder     1 tsp
 Coriander powder           3/4 tsp
7.Cinnamon              2 " piece
8.Cloves                   5
9.Cardamom              2
10.Peppercorns         5-6
11.Dry red chilli         1
12.Pepper powder      3/4 tsp
13.Roasted cumin powder   1tsp 
14.Garam masala          3/4 tsp
15.Salt           as needed
16.Oil            2 tbsp
17.Curry leaves     few
 Method
-In a pressure cooker add Chick peas,chilli-turmeric (powder) and water(the first ingredients).Cook till soft & done.Keep aside (don't discard the water)
-In a blender add the tomatoes,Chilli & Coriander powder(6th ingredients).Blend into a smooth paste* without adding water.Keep aside.
-Heat oil in a pan and add the spices -cinnamon, cloves ,cardamom, pepper corns and the dry red chilli.Then add the chopped ginger and garlic.
-Saute till this turns slightly brown in colour now add the slit green chillies and curry leaves.Saute for a minute.
-Add the sliced onion and saute till transparent.
-Now add the tomato paste*,mix well and wait till the oil separates.
-Add the cooked chick peas along with the water ,mix well.
-Add salt,pepper powder,cumin powder and garam masala powder.
-Let it boil for sometime till the gravy reduces and coats the peas well.
-Off the flame and serve with rotis or batura.

Semiya/Vermicelli Payasam


Whenever my children ask for a payasam ,usually I go & check my kitchen shelves for vermicelli...that is one of the easiest payasam I could think of...Though I am not a big fan of this,my children they just can have it at any time...breakfast..lunch..dinner or any time...

Batura

Batura is a North Indian fried bread.It is a puffed bread prepared adding yeast,milk,yoghurt etc,kept sometime for fermenting and then deep fried.My family love eating these while frying itself.Kids will love this,so do try and let me know :)
Ingredients
Milk(warm)      1 cup
Egg                1
Yogurt          1/4 cup
Yeast             1/2 tsp
Sugar             1/2 tsp
Ghee              1/2 tsp
All purpose flour/Maida   31/4cup (or as needed to make a dough) 
Salt                1/2 tsp
Oil                 For deep frying
Method
-In a large bowl pour the warm milk ,add yeast & sugar.Mix well till yeast and sugar dissolves.Now add  ghee,egg,yoghurt & salt.Again mix all these well using your hand.
-Now add the flour and knead well to make a smooth non sticky dough.
-Cover this and keep aside for 21/2 to 3 hrs (till double in size).
-Now make balls (little bigger than lemon size) & roll each ball dusting a little flour on a rolling board(little bigger and thicker than puri) then cut into four equal pieces(see image below).
-Heat oil in a kadayi and deep fry till done(flip once or twice)
-Your puffed baturas are ready to be served with Chicken/Mutton curry or Chole masala.

Prawns Curry With Raw Mango/Chemmeen Manga Curry

Today's recipe is Prawns/Chemeen curry with (green) raw mango(Pacha maanga) added.The Mango added in the curry gives a piquant, tangy taste to the curry. To eat the mango slices from the curry itself is....This curry goes well with both rice and rotis.
Ingredients 
Prawns                 400 g (cleaned)
Raw Mango           1 medium(sliced)
Onion                    1 big (chopped)
Tomato                 1 med.(  "       )
Chilly powder          2 tsp
Coriander powder   11/2 tsp
Turmeric powder    1/2 tsp
Water                    11/2 cups 
Salt                       as per taste
Thick coconut milk  1 cup
Curry leaves           few
Coconut oil             1 tbsp
 Method
-Heat oil in a wok,add the chopped onion and saute till translucent.
-Now add the curry leaves and mango slices,saute for sometime.
-Add all the three powders and saute for a minute(till the raw smell goes)
-Now add in the tomatoes and cook till it becomes soft and  the oil separates.
-Add water and salt.Let it boil for sometime. 
-Now add the cleaned prawns and cook for 7-10 minutes.
-Lastly add the coconut milk and when it starts to boil, remove from fire.
-Serve hot with rice or rotis.

Coconut And Egg Stir Fry


This is an easy stir-fry which you can have with rice  or kanji .
Ingredients 
Coconut (grated)   3/4 cup
Onion                    1 medium(finely chopped)
Eggs                      2
Red chilly powder   3/4 tsp
Salt                        as needed 
Coconut oil             1 tbsp


 Method
-Heat oil in a pan and add the chopped onion.Saute till the onion turns transparent.
-Now add the grated coconut ,chilli powder and salt,
saute till the coconut changes in colour and gives out a nice smell.
-Immediately add in the eggs and scramble.
-When everything combines well,remove from fire and transfer into the serving plate.
