I have already posted a recipe on Dry Prawns/Unakka Chemmeen (as called in Malayalam) which you can check here.I have mentioned there, the reaction of my folks on this dry version of prawns or fish.
Here's another version my Umma cooks with these. If you have the cleaned ones ready then its just so simple adding this with some other ingredients. If you are a lover of this dry sea food you won't be needing any other side dish with your bowl of rice or kanji, preferably with Kanji
Ingredients
Dry prawns 11/2 cup(cleaned and washed)
Onion 1 medium chopped
Tomato 1 medium chopped
Green chilly 1 slit
Chilly powder 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder 3/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Water 1/4 cup
Curry leaves a few
Grated Coconut 3-4 tbsp
Coconut oil 2 tsp
Method
-In a Clay pot add all the ingredients except oil and grated Coconut and mix well.
-Now keep the pot on medium flame and cook till the water evaporates and the prawns get completely cooked and mixed with the other ingredients.
-Now add the grated Coconut and mix well.
-Switch off the flame and add the oil on top.Keep covered for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes mix and serve.
Oh-yum, this has to my fav. Just so good with rice.
