Now here the summer is at its peak.Every time the refrigerator is open and shut for sipping juices or lemonades by the kids.I usually prepare something which can be consumed for 2-3 days like the puddings or fruit salads, which can cool ourselves.
-Cashew nut Pudding
-Tender Coconut Pudding

Oats With Dry Fruits And Nuts
Already we are in the last few days of Ramadan. And the ten days goes with the best prayers one can make expecting Lailathul Qadr.
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun, tuhibbul-‘afwa, fa’fu ‘anni
(O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me)
A little about Lailathul Qadr-the Night of Power/Decree expected during the the last days mainly the odd nights is of great significance. The Holy Quran was sent down in this night. Angels descend in this night. There is a chapter in the Holy Quran mentioning about this.

Paalooda - Malabar Special Iftar Drink
Its the 10th of May and time for our MFB Challenge,a challenge that sometimes forces me to blog :) As the minutes to hours ,days to months and years are all just flying and so is this lovely challenge from one 10th to the next. This time the theme was ''Ramadan Food'' which was just apt for the month.
Paalooda is a semi thick sweet drink served warm during Ramadan.Just like Thari Kaachiyathu or Nombu Kanji even this is served as a warm Iftar drink. In North Malabar this is sometimes served as a welcome drink on special occasions enriched with Cashew nuts,Condensed milk and garnished with Cashew nuts, shallots and raisins fried in ghee.

Peach Lemonade
Summer means I like juicing my fruits than eating them. The heat is becoming unbearable, the temperature is getting too high and the humidity....specially for the working people.By chance if we have to go shopping or for some other purpose in the morning means we come back exhausted.

Mosambi/Sweet Lime Juice
Most of the time I feel every food has a story or some unforgettable reasons in ones life to love that particular dish or fruit or vegetable or even to dislike them.Sometimes the reasons may be very simple but it brings back some memories.I have already posted one previously on my blog here.

Papaya Juice
There was a time when our house in India was surrounded with Papaya trees, that too large ones.It was many years back, one papaya cut was more than enough for the whole family,so the remaining papayas were given to our neighbours and relatives. But every house had one or two trees.

Almond-Date Smoothie
We are flying to India tomorrow evening InShaAllah.Once when we finished booking our tickets I found there were only a very few days left to go and so much of work to finish starting from purchasing and packing to take to India which has no end till the very last moment. Then finishing off the things in the refrigerator and all that which gets spoiled within one month from the pantry, cleaning, washing and in between some cooking. But actually cooking has reduced a lot; There's only a lunch cooked and the same curry is taken for dinner with Kuboos ( there will be many frown faces at the dining table but no other alternative from my side hehe...)

Rambutan Lemonade-Along With My Memories About A Singapore Trip
I ate this fruit for the first time during a holiday trip in Singapore. This translucent pale whitish fruit with a hairy skin (which is why it got its name) had piqued my interest at that age.You can know more about this fruit here.
