In the Malabar areas sometimes this is served with other snacks at Iftar tables. If not a big fan of simply hard boiled eggs, like all of us in my family,hehe..then this is something you can try upon.
Ingredients
Hard boiled Eggs 3
Red chilly powder 3/4 tsp
Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Salt as needed
Garam masala powder 1/4 tsp
Oil 3-4 tbsp
Curry leaves a few
Method of cooking
-Remove the shells of the hard boiled egg and make 3-4 slits on each(be careful not to cut them into halves).
-In a plate add all the powders along with salt and mix with 1 or 2 tsp of water.Make a thick paste.
-Now marinate the slit eggs in this paste.Rub well on all sides and into the slits too.
-Heat oil in a frying pan and add the curry leaves and then these marinated eggs.Roll the eggs touching all sides in the oil.Keep turning till all the sides are done(becomes a little crisp).Takes about 2-3 minutes.
-Remove from the pan and serve.

ReplyDeleteI had this first when I got married. Every second house we would go for a visit would have this for chai. Then I was telling umma, puzhungiya muttaye porichu monjakunnu... hehe... Sometimes, my MIL just put the masalas in oil, add water and mixes it, fries slightly till dry then toss the eggs into it and cook till its done. :)
