Chicken curry or fry is mostly my children's favorite when it comes to side dishes.Today's recipe is a Chicken Stew which can be served with Rotis Appams or any bread item.The combo of pepper powder,green chillies and coconut milk makes it unique.My children like having this curry as a side dish with chappatis or baturas,and my Hubby likes it with Pathiris.
Ingredients
Chicken 700 gms
Potato 1 (med,cut into cubes)
Onion 3 (thinly sliced)
Tomato 2(thinly sliced)
Ginger paste 11/2 tsp
Garlic paste 11/2 tsp
Green chilly 3-4 ( slit)
Pepper powder 3/4 tsp
Salt according to taste
Cardamom 1
Cloves 4-5
Cinnamon 2 pieces
Thick coconut milk 1 and 1/2 cup
Oil 2 tbsp
Curry leaves a few
Method of cooking
-In a pan heat oil then add cinnamon,cloves and cardamom.
-After 3-4 seconds add the onion and saute well.
-Add the ginger and garlic paste.
-Add green chillies and saute till the onions are done.
-Now add tomatoes till soft.
-Add pepper powder,salt and the cleaned chicken.
-Mix well,close the lid and cook for 5 minutes.
-Now add the diced potatoes,mix and cook till the chicken is done.
-Add the coconut milk ,boil for a minute,add curry leaves and off the flame.
-Serve hot.
